Henry is so good but so clueless about life. Read the story of how it works on the far flung human enclave. A worthwhile read.
This book kept me excited and wondering always how they were going to accomplish all their needs to be abletoreturn to earth against hugh odds to over come.

This second novel was very entertaining and I never wanted to stop reading it. There are some books that just raw you in where you can feel their victeries and defeats. Following the lead character's thoughts like your own.

Lieutenant Henry Gallant is an exciting story, filled with battles and emotionally charged drama that holds your interest through a balance of action and character relationships that feel authentic. The novel opens with a rapid action sequence that pulls you in. Then Gallant's adventures on a lush paradise planet lead to new discoveries and deep mysteries that keep you guessing. The imagery is vivid, lush, and stimulating. The personal exchanges are crisp and sharp. The adventure swirls around dangers and secrets that pit Gallant's mental abilities against an ancient Artificial Intelligence. The relationship between the hero and the dangerous AI is interesting. An overall great read.
Fun read! I really enjoy the book. It is funny how Henry never gets the girl! Is he an old time cowboy always riding off into the sunset or in Henry's case flying off into space! I can't believe that his Great natural ability with the neural interface is not going to be passed on to some children. Let him get married and start a family. Not another Captain Picard!!! Can't wait for the next book!😀
Let me preface this by saying, I thoroughly enjoyed Book 1 of the Henry Gallant Series (Midshipman Henry Gallant)….but Holy Cow! Peter Alesso has hit it out of the ballpark with the second book in the series, Lieutenant Henry Gallant. His writing style has blossomed and matured into a beautiful, refined art. Lieutenant Henry Gallant instantly grabs your attention from the opening sentences. Chapter one opens with a thrilling sequence of escape, but from what? Then, we are treated to the back story of this drama-filled moment.

As the title infers, our hero Henry Gallant is now a Lieutenant for the United Planets and aboard a new ship called the Intrepid. Henry has evolved into a professionally and socially mature character fit for a lieutenant. As the lively story unfolds, Henry (our “Natural” non-genetically modified human) discovers a planet with unusual inhabitants. Ultimately, he must battle and outsmart artificial intelligence. This book is filled with adventure, action and mystery. One you won’t want to put down!

Typically, I do not read a lot of science fiction. But this series is definitely one that I am keeping my eye on! I highly recommend it to both avid and casual science fiction readers. Although not a prerequisite to the understanding of Lieutenant Henry Gallant, the first book in the series, Midshipman Henry Gallant, shouldn’t be missed. You won’t be disappointed!
A great sequel to the first Henry Gallant book with plenty of action; a new romance for Henry; the discovery of a lost human colony; an alien AI with grand ambitions to cleanse the galaxy of organic intelligent beings, and of course the Titans are close at hand posing an eminent threat to Henry and his comrades on United Planets Intrepid. I really liked the beginning of Lt Henry Gallant - it built up tension and left the reader wondering how Intrepid had been boarded by the Titans and was certainly a great opening gambit - it grabbed my attention and left me wondering if Henry was alone? Where was the crew? My heart was in my mouth through the opening chapters as they slowly unraveled how the Intrepid ended up heavily damaged with Henry trying to evade the Titans. The remainder of the book deals with how the Intrepid effects repairs, their dealings with the lost human colony of Elysium's leader President Wolfe, and the sinister entity in the background trying to hinder Henry's repair efforts. H. Peter Alesso has written another exciting Henry Gallant story and I am now looking forward to reading book three and book four when it is released next year
I liked the characters and the story line was plausible but the science behind many of the actions was not correct for instance in space you don't start slowing when acceleration stops. You have to apply force to slow, also turns are not gradual they are caused by application of thrust in the direction needed for the turn.
Next the fight with the dragor was not very realistic I have read accounts of large cat attacks and Henry would not have survived the list of wounds long at all
