I am in complete agreement with anyone who calls Through Dangerous Skies excellent. Reading it was even more interesting than I had anticipated it to be! It gives a (sometimes intense) idea of what it would be like to be the pilot in command of a B-17 over Europe during the time period when bombers had the least fighter protection and most enemy defense. In my opinion, Through Dangerous Skies should be rated in accuracy, interest, and excitement with other, better-known military aviation books, including nonfiction ones.Review by Claire Bergland

Good writings
John Emmert has written an excellent book! The story follows Paul Davis as he flies a B-17 for the Air Force during WWII. It's evident that John has done a lot of research and is fully knowledgeable of fighter planes, WWII history and the military in general. The book is action packed and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Paul's character is a reflection of John's life, one that is upright and honoring to the Lord!
I have had the privilege to speak with a WWIi B-17 Bombardier about his experiences as a 19 year old First Lieutenant; John hits a home run with this his first novel! The main character, Paul Davis, is a kid. He is responsible for a crew of 10 others just like him - young adults who should be starting college or in the work force but they are thrust into defeating evil. The decisions that have to be made by the aircraft commander would be devastating for a man twice the age of Paul, but Paul has to make them. You end up fretting for this crew just like you know them. The details of the aircraft, the various jobs on the bomber, and life at 24,000 feet over Nazi occupied Europe show the research that John did for this story.
Anyone who loves a good read this is the one. Anyone who wants to travel with the Mighty 8th to attack Hitler's Festung Europa will love this one!
My children and I just finished, Through Dangerous Skies by John Emmert. We LOVED it. We all learned a lot and were blessed and encouraged by the characters responses to all that came his way.
