The story of Sarah and Ethan was actually a sweet one in the midst of the middle east during war.

Sarah is a gutsy medevac pilot who takes chances and does whatever it takes to get to the injured getting them out for medical treatment they need, much to the chagrin of her CO who doesn't her in his squad because she constantly damages her helicopter he is only concerned with keeping in his budget so he can get promoted to Colonel. However, Sarah, known as Blue Eyes by all the men in the camp, has a history. She doesn't trust men due to being sexually abused by a foster father as a child and hates how all the men constantly look at her and hit on her.

Ethan is a SEAL, new to camp. He notices Sarah, but rather than hit on her, she first discovers him when he steps between her and some Delta Force men making their way to her table. Ethan, attracted to her but sensing her non-interest in getting too close, courts her with poems. Ethan is an experienced SEAL who exhibits confidence in any situation and has such a tender side.

Slowly, as Sarah opens up to Ethan and trusts him (who knew she loved poetry?), he exudes tenderness. He puts together from their conversations her abusive background and their love story grows through his tenderness.

Though Sarah is Army, Ethan's SEAL brothers adopt her after a heroic rescue of two of their own on a mission that damages her helo yet again. The ending of the book was also an appropriate tender conclusion for them.

I loved Sarah & Ethan. Sarah a Pilot and Ethan a SEAL! In the Hot spot of Afghanistan. He writes poems and has a sensitive side. Sarah who was abused as a child. then almost again. People who haven't been raped Or almost been raped will NEVER GET IT! I Loved the Poems. And Sarah Yes, she did a lot of crying. But then again she didn't see her self as beautiful. I loved the story can't wait for the next installment. Ms Mckenna did an excellent job with this.
I'm a big military romance fan and have read a lot of books in this category. Some things are guaranteed when you love this genre there's always an alpha male who is protective of his team, family or the woman he loves. A man who fights for his ideals and doesn't mind to sacrifice his life if this is what it takes to make the world a better place. It's the details and creativity around this axis that distinguishes a simplistic from a good read.

I very much appreciated the novelty of a warrior poet. Why not?! It was an interesting feature in a man's character who faces death every day. Needless to say that this was absolutely romantic. I adored his patience and how Ethan tried to win Sarah's trust and confidence. Generally, Ehthan was a well rounded off character, which isn't something I could say for the female lead character. Initially Sarah seemed to meet Ethan at eye level, however, the more the story unravelled the more disappointed I became in her actions and reactions. Yes, she was a troubled soul and yes, she had a traumatic childhood. However, she came a long way and chose a predominately "male" career, which indicates that Sarah has made peace with her past and moved on. In any case, throughout the story it was obvious that this wasn't the case at all. Her reactions were mostly annoying and not quite understandable or comprehensible.

The plot was straight forward, without any twists or turns and although it started off well, the story line soon faltered. There was no atmosphere or tension between Ethan and Sarah or maybe the few secondary characters didn't support the plot sufficiently. Maybe the plot remained one dimensional and therefore shallow?

The ending was too cheesy and far too rushed. Meanwhile I know that there will be a second installment with the same main characters but why not round off this first installment with a decent ending?

PS if you liked the general idea of the book, try Kaylea Cross «Deadly Descent»
The premise of this story was good when you consider Sarah's story. Her history of abuse was believable. The poetry writing SEAL was too much for me. It was sweet but took away from the fierceness of what a SEAL represents. I liked the way the team embraced her in the end but even that was overboard with the decked out room. The poem at the end clinched it for me. More like a love struck teenager. Not a bad story if you want your fierce guy to be in touch with his feminine side.
What an amazing book. I loved it. It made cry, laugh, cheer, and it was just fantastic. Ethan and Sarah are amazing together. Both of these characters are my favorite of all the books I've read and there have been hundreds. I usually don't care for a romance mixed with a little action, i usually go for more action, but this one was different. I wanted to read every page, every word they said to each other, it was beautiful and touched me greatly. I feel like i truly know who these two people are and i care for them both deeply. I will have a very hard time waiting until March 1st to read their next story which sounds to be more action packed and tension filled. I'm glad to completely know the characters going into this next book, it will help to understand their feelings for each other and make the book that much more of an enjoyable read. Thank you Lindsay for writing such fantastic novels to help pass the humdrum of daily life.
