On Grinches and Christmas spirit

Yes, even in the frozen, and at the moment very snowy, north there are Grinch's. I came out of the house on Wednesday and looked up towards the Hawaiian flag flying above the snowy expanse that is our front yard only to realize that the flag was not there! Stolen. It makes me sad because it is just a mean thing to do and also doesn't really show the Aloha spirit.

I mean really, why steal a flag? Is it because it looks like a British flag or just different? Anyway, that was a bit of a downer. I guess I will just drill a hole through the next pole and lock it to the holder. Can't really lock up the flag but I can make it harder to steal. I won't not put one up though.

The Christmas spirit is alive and well though up here. Lots of people have lights on their houses and the snow just gives it a special kind of feel. I am happy to say that I am the only person in the neighborhood with lights on the outside second floor of their house. Now my lights are much more sedate than in years past but still nice. We have to start out small right? Break the neighbors in slowly and all that.
The real factor is that as oppose to DC, I can't climb out on the roof, in short sleeves, and rappel down the house. The fact that it was -20C the day we put up the lights also played a role. All that being said I think it looks nice. The glow of the LED lights in the backyard through the snow is very fun.On the family front Scotty arrived yesterday, just in time for the biggest snow storm in 60 years! They are forecasting as much as 60cm (2 feetish (like a fetish but with more than one foot)) of snow by tomorrow. Scott is a bit underwhelmed by it all and in true Margenau fashion is sleeping on the couch! Actually he is blown away by all of it and is stoked to see it snow finally.
We are decorating the tree today and then maybe if it clears up we will go sledding. When I get the pictures I will update on the Christmas Sumo party we went to last night.

PS. I wrote this about a week ago but the computer crashed with the pictures on it. All the Margenau's are here and well now.

I'm so glad everyone has made it there safe and sound and,
Mr. Margenau, your lights look gorgeous. We love you guys.

Oh yeah... See the picture of the front of the house? That snow bank on the right hand side is now three times that height. Almost us to the second story. Its crazy!

We had snow forecast here this week. It ended up being about five flakes. Disappointing.
